Part-time Cafeteria Worker

Preferred Qualifications:
- Is at least 21 years of age and possesses a high school diploma or GED certificate and some experience in food preparation.
- Possesses an interest in preparing and working with food.
- Possesses the physical stamina to withstand temperature variances common to food service facilities and can occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Tolerates continuous standing, walking, bending, and moderate lifting.
- Works at the speed necessary to meet deadlines.
- Operates food service equipment and/or cash register.
- Communicates effectively and can get along with students, staff, and co-workers.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Prepares, cooks, and serves meats, breads, vegetables, and other foods in accordance with the menu.
- Prepares and serves fruits, desserts, salads, soups, and other foods.
- Washes pots, pans, kettles, and other cooking utensils. – maximum weight 25 pounds.
- Operates dishwasher, mixer, chopper, slicer, steamers, oven, and other food service and mechanical equipment.
- Participates in daily clean-up of work surfaces, eating and food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils.
- Sweeps and mops and performs other clean-up duties as assigned.
- Assist in estimating and ordering food supplies.
- Receives and stocks food supplies – maximum weight 55 pounds.
- Maintains sanitary conditions.
- Serves as a cashier and collects money for meals, if necessary.
- Courteously serves food to students while adhering to portion control, safety, and appearance standards.
- Scrapes food from used dishes and washes them in the dishwasher.
- Follows trash separation and disposal procedures.
- Reports needed supplies and equipment malfunction to the Cafeteria Manager.
- Observe and promotes safe work practices and procedures.
- Attends in-service training sessions to develop and improve knowledge and skills.
- Recommends changes and improvements regarding his/her job and accepts changes readily.
- Adheres to uniform and personal hygiene requirements.
- Prepares and serves banquet and special function meals as required.
- Inspects cleaned dishes for cleanliness, chips, cracks, etc., and stores in appropriate locations.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager, Assistant Cafeteria Manager, and/or Cafeteria Coordinator.
Terms of Employment: 180 days per year
Salary: Cafeteria Worker Salary Scale
