Middle School Reading Interventionist (2024-2025 SY)

The Reading Interventionist will work directly with all students in grades 6-8 identified for reading intervention. Interventions and strategies employed will support the WCPS Literacy Plan.


Responsibilities

  •  Participate in any training or professional development required to acquire knowledge of the specific skills needed to support the WCPS Literacy Plan
  • Work directly with students utilizing approved high-quality instructional materials and evidence-based literacy instruction strategies
  • Work with the Reading Coach(es) to gain an understanding of the goals and strategies utilized to achieve growth in reading
  • Work with the Reading Coach(es) to identify students in need of intervention, implement interventions, and collect/analyze/share data
  • Collaborate with administrators and teachers regarding data in order to create academic plans for students receiving interventions
  • Participate in creating, monitoring, and updating Student Literacy Plans
  • Communicate with stakeholders regarding student achievement
  • Work with multiple schools
  • Participate in any other duties as assigned by Central Office Directors or Reading Coaches

Qualifications

  • Five or more years’ experience teaching at the elementary or middle school level
  • An endorsement in English and/or K-6 or K-8
  • An above average knowledge of reading, writing, and the significance of literacy instruction
  • Strategies for effective communication all stakeholders
  • Highly effective organizational skills
  • Knowledge of how to analyze and use data to plan/adjust instruction
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • The ability to work within a team as well as function as a leader
  • The ability to develop and provide professional development to teachers

 

SALARY BASED ON THE 2024-2025 TEACHERS’ SALARY SCALE - 200 DAYS CONTRACT
