5 Hour Cafeteria Worker

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Is at least 21 years of age and possesses a high school diploma or GED certificate and some experience in food preparation.
  2. Possesses an interest in preparing and working with food.
  3. Possesses the physical stamina to withstand temperature variances common to food service facilities and can lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  4. Tolerates continuous standing, walking, bending, and moderate lifting.
  5. Works at the speed necessary to meet deadlines.
  6. Operates food service equipment and/or cash register.
  7. Communicates effectively and can get along with students, staff, and co-workers.

 

Performance Responsibilities: 

  1. Prepares, cooks, and serves meats, breads, vegetables, and other foods in accordance with the menu.
  2. Prepares and serves fruits, desserts, salads, soups, and other foods.
  3. Washes pots, pans, kettles, and other cooking utensils. – maximum weight 25 pounds.
  4. Operates dishwasher, mixer, chopper, slicer, steamers, oven, and other food service and mechanical equipment.
  5. Participates in daily clean-up of work surfaces, eating and food preparation areas, equipment, and utensils.
  6. Sweeps and mops and performs other clean-up duties as assigned.
  7. Assist in estimating and ordering food supplies.
  8. Receives and stocks food supplies – maximum weight 55 pounds.
  9. Maintains sanitary conditions.
  10. Serves as cashier and collects money for meals, if necessary.
  11. Courteously serves food to students while adhering to portion control, safety, and appearance standards.
  12. Scrapes food from used dishes and washes them in dishwasher.
  13. Follows trash separation and disposal procedures.
  14. Reports needed supplies and equipment malfunction to the Cafeteria Manager.
  15. Observes and promotes safe work practices and procedures.
  16. Attends in-service training sessions to develop and improve knowledge and skills.
  17. Recommends changes and improvements regarding his/her job and accepts changes readily.
  18. Adheres to uniform and personal hygiene requirements.
  19. Prepares and serves banquet and special function meals as required.
  20. Inspects cleaned dishes for cleanliness, chips, cracks, etc., and stores in the appropriate location.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned by the Cafeteria Manager, Assistant Cafeteria Manager, and/or Cafeteria Coordinator.

 

Terms of Employment: 180 days per year 

Salary: Cafeteria Worker Salary Scale
